SWAN Mourns Kayode Tijani

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has expressed shock over the demise of ace Journalist Kayode Tijani.

Tijani, whose passing away occurred on Wednesday evening, about the same time Super Eagles engaged South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in the Africa Cup of Nations, is a well-known Sports Journalist who was exceptional all through his career.

SWAN President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, while mourning the demise of Tijani in a statement through the Association’s secretary-general, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, on Thursday, enjoined his family, friends and indeed his colleagues to take solace in the distinct life he lived.

He said, “Kayode Tijani is a name that is notable in Sports journalism over the past three decades. This is because he made an indelible mark as a media professional with the way he covered and carried himself all through.

“His experience will be truly missed. However, I enjoined us all especially, Sports Journalists to take in the mark he made in life especially as a sporting media professional.”

“As a leadership, we will do our part in identifying with his family at this period of grief and beyond.”

The SWAN also thanked Sports Writers and indeed other stakeholders in the sporting sector for their moral and financial support to the family of late colleague Ignatius Ajonuma.
