Laura Jarrett Biography: Early life, Parents, Family, Education and Career.

Laura Allison Jarrett is an American practicing litigation attorney and a Senior Legal correspondent for NBCNews. Prior to that, she was a political reporter for CNN based mostly in Washington, DC. From January 2020 until 2022, Laura was the anchor of the show “ Early Start” along with co-host Christine Romans.

Early Life, Parents

Laura was born in the year 1983 in Chicago, Illinois to a business-class family. William Jarrett and Valerie Jarrett are her parents who raised her with a lot of love. Laura’s parents were well-educated and they always encouraged Laura to study hard and follow in their footsteps. Both William and Valerie once said in an interview that they always try to make their daughter proud by doing several powerful works in their respective fields.

Valerie June Jarrett was born in Shiraz located in Iran on 14th November 1956. Valerie is an American businesswoman and a former government officer. In her successful career, Valerie served as a legal advisor for Barack Obama and also an assistant to the president for 5 consecutive years (2009-11). She was also a mentor to former First Lady, Michelle Obama.

Laura’s dad William Jerret was the son of a Chicago reporter  Vernon Jarret and worked as a director of obstetrics and gynecology. Unfortunately, she lost her father due to cardiac arrest in 1993 when she was just 10 years old.

Living in Washington D.C, Laura married a Canadian politician Tony Balkissoon on June 17^th, 2012. Her father-in-law is a renowned Ontario-based politician Bas Balkissoon. She has two kids, Anthony and Tahay Balkissoon.

Laura Jarrett Education and Career

Laura distinguished herself as an exceptional student during her tenure at a Chicago-based educational institution, where she demonstrated a particular aptitude for intellectual subjects.

She then proceeded to further her education by obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree from Amherst College in 2007, followed by a law degree from Harvard Law School in 2010. During her time at Harvard, Laura served as co-chair for the Harvard Journal of Law and Gender, authoring persuasive articles on matters of gender, violence, and the law.

Following her studies, Laura worked as a judicial law clerk, accruing valuable experience in the handling of litigation cases. She was also devoted to pro bono work, successfully litigating a case involving segx trafficking. Laura serves as a political reporter for CNN in Washington, D.C., bringing to bear her expertise and knowledge as a respected journalist.

In mid-2022, Laura announced her move from CNN to NBC News and will start covering the U.S. Department of Justice and Supreme Court coverage from veteran Pete Williams.

Presently, Laura Jarrett, senior legal correspondent for NBC News, has been named the next co-anchor of Saturday TODAY. Jarrett is looking forward to sitting in the anchor chair at Studio 1A in New York in September, alongside NBC News correspondent Joe Fryer, who has also recently been named Saturday TODAY’s Feature Anchor, as well as Alexander.
