When Afolarin was a student at the University of Lagos in 2013, he participated in a theatrical production of the play Magic Time. This was his first experience acting.

Afolarin said that using one’s own personal projects as a stepping stone into the film business during a conversation that took place on February 1, 2021 with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). He investigated prospects behind the scenes by acting in the roles of Director in two short films (An Interview Story and Peace), Associate Producer, Aerial Cinematographer, and Set Designer in films such as Ajuwaya and Couple of Days, and Assistant Director in a short film titled The 3rd Rule.

Afolarin was also responsible for the curation of all aerial views for a comprehensive investment documentary that was produced for the Oyo State Government in 2018 by Tolu “Lord Tanner”. Afolarin rose to prominence after making his film debut in the role of Chikodi, one of the key characters in Emamode Edosio’s ‘Kasala,’ which also starred Tomiwa Tegbe, Chimezie Imo, and Emeka Nwagbaraocha. Emamode Edosio directed the film.

Afolarin went on to appear in several short films in 2019, including Stuck in Deep Mud, which was directed by Charles Obi Emere, as well as Fortunately Ridiculous and Blast. Not long after that, he had a role in the film Your Excellency, which was produced by Ebonylife TV and Ebonylife Films and directed by Funke Akindele. The film also starred Akin Lewis and Shaffy Bello.

His comic performance as Kinto in Africa Magic’s globally recognized television series Brethren, which also starred Daniel Etim-Effiong, Akin Lewis, and Demola Adedoyin, was largely responsible for the increase in his fan base.
